Mission Statement

The purpose of NationOfCriminals.com is to highlight serious issues facing the United States, and do so in a way that addresses each issue more deeply than many other news outlets.

The issues we face today including the "War on Terror", "War on Drugs", war in Afghanistan, war in Iraq, massive gasoline prices, rising food prices, mortgage foreclosures, government spying on citizens, are all very important. When watching the nightly news or reading political blogs, however, usually one gets a small piece of a larger puzzle. Here at NationOfCriminals, we want to put those pieces together and give you, dear reader, the big picture.

Most political blogs and news sites appear to work under the premise "blog early, blog often" NationOfCriminals is not like that. We will explore each issue in great detail, attempting to show all possible sides.

The site name and theme of The United States of America as a nation of criminals comes from the novel The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand.

There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.

We believe that the US is quickly approaching something like Rand's dystopian vision. So we work to document abuses and bad laws and make the issues accessible to everyone.

These words are sometimes misappropriated by the Libertarian Party, who strongly advocate less government and state's rights. Although it seems compelling to let each state work out it's own needs, in the end the idea doesn't hold water. People need to work together and make real, working solutions. We are liberals here, not Libertarians.

We very much like to hear the ideas of our readers and we welcome with open arms anyone who wants to embrace our philosophy of reporting. Site members (aka "criminals") can write articles and vote on articles. If enough people vote an article up high enough, it will be promoted to the "Domestic Crimes", or "International War Crimes" page. Members articles can even be promoted to the home page if the article is very good.

So, kick off your shoes. Pour a nice brandy. Put on your writing gloves and show us what you've got. We hope enjoy using the site.
